Six courses, one clear pathway — whether you are opening Excel for the first time or
gearing up to automate complex data workflows with VBA
CTO delivers customised Excel training programs for every skill level – from foundation formatting and formulas through to PivotTables, Power Query, advanced functions and automation. All Excel courses – Introduction, Intermediate and Advanced – are tailored to your team’s actual workflows and data, not generic spreadsheet exercises.
CTO’s Microsoft Excel Training can be fully customised to your team, your data, your industry and your level. All courses can be delivered onsite at your workplace anywhere across Australia, or live online.
Not sure which course your team needs? Call us today and our specialist facilitator will help you design the right program for you.
Delivered at your workplace, any state, any territory across Australia.
Onsite and online participants together for distributed teams.
Onsite and online participants together for distributed teams.
Tailored to your data, workflows and team’s current skill level.
Think of these six courses as building blocks, not a fixed schedule. Most organisations mix and
match — taking participants from where they are to exactly where they need to be.
How it works in practice: Many teams complete Introduction, Intermediate and Advanced as a structured sequence, while others start at Intermediate or Advanced based on existing skills. Specialist courses sit alongside the core pathway. Participants typically take these after Advanced, though Functions can be combined with Intermediate, depending on need. When you choose CTO, all courses can be customised, combined or scaled to the number of days that suits your organisation.
Who it’s for, what you’ll learn and how it’s delivered.
Build a confident Excel foundation from day one
New to Excel or never had a proper foundation? This one-day course gives you everything you need to work confidently with spreadsheets from day one. You’ll learn how Excel actually works, not just what buttons to press.
The emphasis throughout is on building accurate, well-designed workbooks you can maintain and share with confidence. By the end of the day, you’ll be ready to handle real workplace data with clarity and control.

Work smarter with more powerful workbooks and data tools
You know Excel basics. Now it’s time to work smarter with it. This one-day course builds on your existing skills to help you create more powerful workbooks, work faster with data and make better decisions using Excel’s analytical tools.
If you’ve ever wasted time wrestling with a complex formula, struggled to make charts look professional, or wished Excel could do more of the heavy lifting. This course is for you.
Need training tailored to the specific tools and data your team uses every day?
PivotTables, macros and professional-level data analysis
This is where Excel gets serious. If you’re working with large, complex datasets and need tools to analyse, protect and present data at a professional level, this course is your next step.
From PivotTables that summarise thousands of rows in seconds to macros that automate your most repetitive tasks, the Advanced course equips experienced users to build sophisticated, reliable Excel solutions.
Want to combine Advanced with VBA or Data Analysis Add-Ins? Let’s talk.
The full toolkit: from VLOOKUP to financial functions and beyond
Formulas are where Excel earns its reputation, and functions are what make formulas powerful. This specialist course takes you well beyond SUM and AVERAGE to the full toolkit of Excel’s built-in functions.
Whether you’re calculating loan repayments with PMT, retrieving data with VLOOKUP, manipulating text strings or validating data with information functions, this course gives you the practical skills to make your spreadsheets work harder with fewer errors.
The Functions course pairs naturally with Advanced Excel. Talk to us about combining them.
Power Pivot, Power Query, Power View and Power Map
Excel is not just a spreadsheet tool. It’s a serious data analysis platform. This specialist course unlocks a set of powerful add-in tools that let you work with data from multiple sources, build relational data models and create interactive visual reports.
If your work involves large datasets, multiple data sources or a need for interactive dashboards and geographic visualisations, this course gives you the tools to make Excel do that work properly.
Not sure if your team is ready for Add-Ins? Call us and we’ll help you assess that.
Automate Excel: write code that removes the ceiling on what’s possible
If Microsoft Excel Advanced is the ceiling of what you can do without code, VBA is the door that removes the ceiling. This two-day course teaches you to automate Excel: writing code that handles repetitive tasks, builds interactive tools and creates solutions that would take hours to do manually.
No programming experience required. The course introduces coding concepts in a practical, step-by-step way, always grounded in real Excel use cases. By the end of day two, participants leave with working VBA solutions, not theoretical knowledge.
VBA is the most powerful course in our Excel pathway. If your team spends hours on tasks Excel could handle automatically, this is the investment that changes that.
Every program can be customised to your data, your workflows and your level before we walk in the door. No time wasted on things your team already knows.
Our trainers are Excel specialists with real-world data experience. They explain complex concepts clearly, adapt on the fly and make the learning stick.
Onsite at your workplace, any state, any territory, including regional locations. Or live online via Microsoft Teams with the same quality and customisation.
Take one course or build a multi-level program. Combine topics across levels. We design what’s right for your team’s time, budget and goals.
Participants leave with practical tools they apply the next day. We follow up after training to check the learning is translating into real behaviour at work.
Over three decades helping Australian organisations build capability and get more from their software tools. That track record matters.
The quickest way is a brief conversation with a CTO specialist. As a starting point: if participants have never used Excel, start with Introduction. If they use it daily but know there are gaps, Intermediate. If they work with large datasets, complex formulas or need to build reports, Advanced. Specialist courses are for users who have completed Advanced and want to go deeper in a specific area. Call us and we will help you determine the right level based on what your team currently does with Excel.
Yes. A two-day program covering Introduction and Intermediate, or Intermediate and Advanced, is one of the most common formats we deliver. You can also combine topics from different levels into a single customised session. Talk to a CTO specialist about what you are trying to achieve and we will design the program around that.
Yes. CTO delivers Microsoft Excel training onsite at client locations in every state and territory, including regional and remote areas. All courses are also available as live, instructor-led online sessions via Microsoft Teams with the same content and quality as in-person delivery.
Participants will need Microsoft Excel installed on their computers — ideally the version their organisation currently uses. For onsite sessions, participants work on their own machines with their own data wherever possible, which makes the learning immediately applicable. We will confirm software requirements when we finalise your program.
Yes. Combining Excel training with other Microsoft 365 programs — particularly SharePoint and OneDrive for file management, or Teams for collaboration — is particularly effective for organisations looking to improve their overall data and productivity workflows. Talk to a CTO specialist about the right combination for your team.
